Who We Are
Hello, I’m Peggy. Roger and I would like
to let you know a little bit about who we are so you might feel
more comfortable getting in touch and considering a home at Trillium
Creek. I grew up in Fortuna. I was saddened as I saw favorite
parts of redwood forest clear cut, and so I’m excited to
be able to protect a loved patch of trees here. So far, my work
roles have been about community and service, including helping
to establish a county arts council, working with at-risk teens,
and being part of the leadership for the first seven years of
a charter school in Shasta County. I lived in Tokyo for a few
years, and had an opportunity to begin to know another culture.
Currently, I’m training as a life coach, and that is a joy.
What I’d most like you to know about me is the vision I
share with Roger of a diverse, sustainable community of neighbors
who love nature (especially the woods and stream at Trillium Creek!),
act on their intentions to live well, and contribute their creativity
to the world. If this sounds like a neighborhood that you are
looking for, please give us a call or write us an email.

I am Roger
and I especially love river rafting, inventing, dance, and being
married to Peggy.
I have
been designing and building passive solar custom homes in and
around Arcata for the past thirty years. About ten years ago while
working on another cohousing project, I realized that although
my design and building experience met the architectural needs
of the group, I found myself wanting better group facilitation
skills to satisfy an important need within the group for effective
communication and decision making. I began looking for ways to
learn some of those skills and I aquired extensive training in
CoActive Coaching, Nonviolent Communication, Seven Habits 4 Teens
and Parenting with Positive Discipline. For the past eight years
I have had a lot of fun facilitating various courses and workshops
and as a part time challenge course facilitator and trainer working
with groups learning to work together more effectively.
As Peggy
and I bring the vision of a home and community into reality I
am excited to bring all of these experiences into the process.
I first
met Jon 8 years ago at a week long river guide training where
I was a student and he was one of my instructors. We became close
friends, and frequent rafting trip partners, co facilitators and
co trainers.
Jon has diverse experience
in management, leadership, training, and development with degrees
in Business and Humanities (M.S. in Organizational Leadership,
B.A. in Religious Studies with specialization in Peace and Conflict
Studies).
Jon is currently a principal in O’Connor
and Associates LLC, an American Red Cross and Rescue
Three International Authorized Provider and Strategic Partner
and Trainer with Redwoods and Rivers Rafting Company in Northern
California. He is a Wilderness First Responder and active trainer
in a variety of fields. Additional current affiliations are with
Catherine Freer Wilderness Therapy Programs in Oregon and Ramapo
for Children in New York.
This winter (2008)
his company installed a
new community ropes course at Redwood
Park in Arcata which will be available to local groups and organizations.
Check his website for more information on upcoming trainings.
