Green Building Features
Many "standard"
green building features will be included such as:
Limits on home size
Energy conservation
Use of durable, recycled, low emissions and low impact materials
Passive solar design
Solar water heating and
Solar electric
Additionally we will be working with & developing new strategies.
We will be sharing the design and development of these strategies
online in an "open source" design process:
Site built reinforced concrete &
foam “sandwich”
walls with layers of:
1”-1 ½ “ Concrete stucco / patterned concrete
exterior
5” layer of shredded recycled Styrofoam
1”-1 ½ concrete thermal mass interior
Interior tilt-up "sandwich"
walls of similar materials but with thinner layers and little
or no steel.
Concrete and foam “sandwich”
floors (Esp. between 1st and 2nd floors with stacked 2nd units).
Site built thermal glazing
that is more durable, less expensive and doesn't have sealed spacers
to fail.
Multi layered built-in roll
up thermal shades.
North wall passive assist
cool rooms and refrigeration with thermal mass cooled by thermal
siphon night sky radiation panels.
Compost bins made from recycled
plastic barrels that are animal proof and odor free.
